Hemodynamics
Stroke Volume (SV) Calculator
Blood ejected per beat, worked back from cardiac output and heart rate; shows whether low output is a pump problem or a rate problem.
Formula
(CO * 1000) / HR
Reference: Normal 60–100
How it is used
- Normal Stroke Volume is 60–100 mL/beat.
SV is determined by three main factors
- 1. Preload (Volume status / filling)
- 2. Contractility (Pump function)
- 3. Afterload (Systemic vascular resistance)
- If SV is low, optimize volume status first, then consider inotropic support or afterload reduction.
