Privacy Policy for Medic Basics
Effective Date: September 29, 2026
1. Introduction
Alexander Gateley ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data when you use the Medic Basics application (the "App") on iOS or Android.
2. Data Collection and Usage
We do not collect, store, or share any personal information. The App operates entirely on your device. Your quiz progress, scores, scenario results, flagged questions, notes, mock exam results, exam date, daily goal, study streak, and settings are stored locally and are never transmitted to our servers. The only data that leaves your device is the optional anonymous usage analytics described in section 4, which you can turn off. We have no user accounts and no sign-in.
Deleting the App deletes this information. You can also clear it at any time from Settings → Reset progress.
3. Features That Use Your Device
Some features hand data to standard parts of your phone's operating system at your request. None of them send anything to us.
- Backups. Settings → Back up progress writes your data to a file and opens your phone's share sheet so you can save it to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Files, or another device you choose. Where you store it is governed by that service's privacy policy.
- Reminders. The daily study reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device at the time you choose; no notification service is involved.
- Sharing your score. "Share your score" creates an image on your device and opens the share sheet. Nothing is shared unless you choose an app or contact to share it with.
- Email. "Report a problem with this question" and "Send feedback" open your email app with a pre-filled message addressed to us. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it, and any email you send is used only to respond to you and improve the App.
4. Third-Party Services
The App can send anonymous usage analytics to PostHog (PostHog, Inc.) so we can see which questions and features work well and which need fixing. Analytics records a random device identifier and events such as the app being opened, a quiz being started or finished, and which question was answered and whether the answer was correct. It does not record your name, email, location, or the contents of your notes, it is not linked to you, and it is never used for advertising or tracking across other apps or websites. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Your Data → Share usage analytics. PostHog's handling of this data is described at posthog.com/privacy. The App does not use advertising services. It is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, which are governed by their own privacy policies.
5. Children's Privacy
Because the App does not collect any personal information, it is safe for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and, if necessary, by providing notice within the App.
